The Smelting Process
Smelting is the critical step that transforms raw gold ore and concentrates into cast dore bars. Our Mubende facility uses induction furnaces capable of reaching 1,200°C, producing consistent dore bars with controlled gold content and minimal impurities.

Charge Preparation
Raw gold concentrates are weighed and mixed with appropriate fluxes based on composition analysis.
Induction Smelting
The charge is heated in an induction furnace. Gold melts and separates from slag at 1,064°C.
Casting & QC
Molten gold is poured into pre-heated molds, cooled, and each bar is weighed and XRF-verified.

Is your smelting facility licensed?
Yes. Our Mubende smelting facility operates under DGSM (Directorate of Geological Survey and Mines) licensing with regular inspections for environmental compliance and safety standards.
Can you smelt customer-supplied material?
We primarily smelt material from our cooperative network. For custom smelting inquiries, contact our operations team to discuss feasibility and licensing requirements.
What temperature is required for gold smelting?
Gold melts at 1,064°C. Our induction furnaces operate at 800°C to 1,200°C to ensure complete melting and slag separation. The temperature is precisely controlled for each batch.
How is gold smelting different from gold refining?
Smelting melts gold-bearing material to separate gold from impurities and cast dore bars (60–95% purity). Refining uses chemical or electrochemical processes to achieve 99.5%–99.99% purity. Smelting is the first step; refining is the second.
