From Dore to Refined
Gold Refinery Services
Professional refining from dore bars to LBMA-compliant gold with full assay certification.
The Refining Process
Gold refining transforms semi-pure dore bars (60–95% gold) into investment-grade refined gold at 99.5%–99.99% purity. Our refining partners are LBMA Good Delivery-listed refineries that process Ugandan dore bars using the latest chemical and electrochemical methods.
Refining Methods:
- Aqua Regia dissolution — for high-purity 99.99% output
- Electrolytic refining (Wohlwill process) — for 99.999% purity
- Miller chlorination — rapid processing for 99.5% purity
Refining Capabilities
- ✓Dore-to-refined conversion: 99.5%–99.99%
- ✓LBMA Good Delivery bar production
- ✓ISO 17025 certified assay per batch
- ✓Full traceability from dore to refined
4-Step Refining Pipeline
Dore Receipt
Incoming dore bars are weighed, assayed (XRF + fire assay), and entered into the processing queue with full chain-of-custody.
Melting & Sampling
Dore is melted in induction furnaces. Representative samples are taken for pre-refining composition analysis.
Chemical Refining
Impurities are removed through aqua regia dissolution, selective precipitation, or electrolytic refining depending on target purity.
Assay & Certification
Final refined gold is assayed to verify purity meets the specified grade. Good Delivery bars are cast and certified.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Nile Precious Metals refine gold for me?
Nile Precious Metals sources and exports dore bars. We partner with LBMA Good Delivery-listed refineries for refining services. We can arrange dore-to-refined conversion for institutional buyers requiring finished gold.
What purity levels can be achieved?
Depending on the refining method: Miller chlorination produces 99.5% gold, aqua regia dissolution achieves 99.99%, and the Wohlwill electrolytic process can reach 99.999% purity.
How long does the refining process take?
Standard refining of a dore batch (1–25 kg) typically takes 5–10 business days. Expedited processing is available for institutional buyers at additional cost.
What is the minimum batch size for refining?
Minimum refining batch is 1 kg of dore. For institutional quantities above 25 kg, we arrange dedicated processing runs with batch-specific assay certification.
Do you provide assay certificates after refining?
Yes. Every refined batch receives a Certificate of Analysis including XRF and fire assay results, weight, dimensions, and chain-of-custody reference. Certificates are issued by ISO 17025-accredited laboratories.
